Kingston unveils new 256GB flash drive

Today Kingston unveiled its new DataTraveler 300, a 256GB flash drive that measures 2.78 x 0.88 x 0.65 inches, it wasn't that long ago when we were trying to cram 256 MB into that size. The data transfer on the DataTraveler 300 is 20 MB/sec read and 10 MB/sec write. The DataTraveler 300 also supports Windows ReadyBoost for those Vista users out there and allows you to protect your data with a password. The five year warranty means you don't have to worry about breaking it . With 256GB of memory you could store 10 Blu-ray siscs, 54 DVDs, 365 DCs, or 51,000 photos on a compact flash drive. The DataTraveler 300 is great for adding storage to your netbook or just using as a flash drive for those of you who like to store immense amounts of data in your pocket. It is the first 256GB flash drive on the market, and, unfortunately, is only available in the UK and Europe for a hefty £565 or about $1,000.
