The Acer Aspire AS3810T-6415 Timeline notebook is a small, thin, energy efficient, yet fully featured notebook.It is less than 1 inch thick at its lowest point and weighs 3.5 lbs. It packs 8 hours of battery life and a 13.3 inch WXGA (1366 x 768) screen. It features Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit version. This is a disadvantage as most software is 32-bit and may not run on a 64-bit operating system. You can always install a 32-bit operating system. It also features the Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor SU9400 with a 1.40 GHz clock speed. This is not very good for gaming but will probably suit you just fine for every-day tasks like web browsing, email, office tasks, videos, and more. The Acer Aspire 3810 Timeline Notebook also packs 4GB of RAM which is great for multitasking. A 500 GB 5400RPM hard drive is great for storing photos, videos, and music. It is great for IM-ing because it features a built-in Acer Crystal Eye webcam and microphone. Another great feature is built-in wireless networking supporting 802.11b/g/Draft-N for fast connection speeds and file transfers. There is also a Gigabit LAN connection for wired networks. Built-in Bluetooth 2.0 = EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) is great for connecting to a cell phone, mouse, keyboard, or various other Bluetooth devices. The 5-in-1 card reader makes it easy to transfer photos and videos from a digital camera and other devices. The Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD is okay for high definition videos and some games but will probably not run most newer games. One huge downfall is that there is no optical drive. This means that if you want to burn or watch DVD and CDs you will have to get and external optical drive. The Acer Aspire 3810 Timeline has a great design and decent features and offers a balance of size and features. Its not a particularly feature rich notebook, mainly because of the lack of an optical drive, but it does get the job done in style and is great for average and advanced users. You can get it for about $900 at select retailers.
