Optima OP5-E Review

The Optima OP5-E is the latest Maemo device on the market. It has just been announced by the Chinese company Optima. It features a 4.3 inch touch screen with a WVGA resolution of 800x480. The communication options on the Optima OP5-E are WiFi b/g and 3G WWAN with voice call functionality. It has two cameras, one for communication and the other for taking higher quality pictures. The communication camera is 0.3 megapixels and the high quality camera is 3.2 megapixels. The processor is a Marvell PXA320 with a clock speed of 806 MHz. The Optima OP5-E has 128 MB of RAM and 256 MB ROM. Its supposed to have VOIP functionality but there is rumors that full calling and SMS will be added later on. There is also and integrated speaker and microphone for voice calls but it also has Bluetooth 2.0 if you want to use a headset. Some other nice features on the Optima OP5-E are GPS, a microSD slot supporting microSD cards up to 16GB. The battery is 2,600mAh and can be used for up to 8 hours of runtime. Since it runs Maemo you will be able to run all of the applications that you currently run on your Nokia N810 and thousands more that are available for Maemo, if you don't have a Nokia N810 then this is a great MID (mobile internet device) for you. The Optima OP5-E measures up at 5.6 x 2.9 x 0.69 inches and it weighs 10.6 ounces, that's not bad for the features that it has. It also looks pretty good and will most likely fit into a pocket or purse. The Optima OP5-E is a great MID (mobile internet device) for web browsing, email, and more and it might even become a serious competitor to the N810 or other comparable MIDs (mobile internet devices). There is not much information on the Optima OP5-E since it hasn't been released in the US yet. There is also no word on the pricing or availability since it hasn't been released in the US or Europe and we aren't even sure that it ever will be.
