Google finally gets into the phones business, releases Nexus One

Google has finally gotten into the phone industry and released their Nexus One. The Nexus one has been highly anticipated ever since rumors about a Google phone started and now it has been released. The specifications are amazing. The Nexus one sports a 3.7 in touchscreen display. Officially there is no multitouch but there are rumors that this might be available with future software updates. The resolution of the display is 800x480. Of course, it runs Android which means that there are thousands of apps available for it. The Nexus One also has a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash. It can also use the built in GPS receiver for geotagging. The camera can also capture video at 720x480 pixels and 20 frames per second or higher. Looking at the reviews for the Nexus One it seems like the camera works great, as well as everything else. Some other features are 3G connectivity ar 7.2Mbps, WiFi, and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP. There is also a built in AGPS receiver, a digital compass, an accelerometer, proximity sensor, and light sensor. In terms of memory it has 512MB of flash memory and 512MB of ram as well as a microSD card slot supporting up to 4GB microSD cards. It also features a 1 GHz Qualcomm processor. The battery life is great with 7 to 10 hours of talk time, 250 to 290 hours of standby time, and 5 to 6.5 hours of internet browsing depending on the network type that you are using. On the outside of the Nexus One you can find a power button, headphone jack, back, home, menu, and search keys, and a trackball as well as a volume control on the left side. Currently the Nexus One is being offered unlocked for $529 and subsidized for $179 when you buy it with a T-Mobile plan. The unfortunate thing is that it is only available with one type of T-mobile plan and it if you want to renew your contract and get it subsidized you will not be able to. I hope that the option to do this becomes available soon as I myself am with T-mobile. The Nexus one will also be coming to Verizon and Vodafone in Europe but there are no details on pricing yet. In pictures the Nexus One looks great and its size is comparable to other popular phones like the iPhone and the Motorola Droid. The Nexus One seems like a great phone and it would be great if they allowed you to purchase it subsidized without getting a new plan.
